Structured output means asking an AI to return information in a predictable shape instead of a free-form paragraph. The shape might have named fields such as “title,” “date,” and “summary.”
For example, an app that organizes event details can ask the AI to return each detail in a separate field. The app can then put those pieces into the right places on screen.
This makes results easier for software to read, but it does not guarantee the information is true. A date can be placed in the correct field and still be wrong, so important values need checking.
