In Git, a stash temporarily puts aside local changes that you have not committed yet. It is like placing unfinished notes in a labeled drawer so you can clear your desk for another task.
A developer might stash work to switch branches briefly, then bring the changes back later. This can be handy when you are not ready to make a permanent snapshot.
Stashing is not a long-term backup or a replacement for a commit. Remember that the saved changes are still part of your local Git work and should be restored or otherwise handled when you are done.
