A hook is a piece of code or an action that runs when a particular event happens. For example, a Git hook can run a check before a person saves a change to the project history.
Think of a doorbell: pressing it triggers a chime. A hook works similarly—the program notices an event and starts the action connected to it.
Different tools use the word “hook” in different ways. Check which event starts it and what it will do, especially if it can change files or send information somewhere.
