A button is a part of a page that a person presses to make an action happen. It might save your work, send a message, or open a small window. Think of a doorbell: pressing it starts one clear action. On a website, a button might say “Save” or “Send.”

Buttons are different from links. A link takes you to another place; a button does something where you are. This difference helps people know what will happen before they click. For example, use “Create account” for the control that sends a sign-up form.

When choosing a button label, say what it will do in a few familiar words. If the action could delete or replace something, make that clear before the person presses it.
